Tyrese Haliburton Trade Revisited
A Win-Win for Both Indiana and Sacramento
The Pacers' Perspective
The Indiana Pacers made a significant move at the 2022 trade deadline, shipping out Domantas Sabonis, Jeremy Lamb, Justin Holiday, and a 2023 second-round pick to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Tyrese Haliburton. At the time, some questioned whether the Pacers had received fair value in the deal, given Sabonis' All-Star status.
However, in the months since the trade, it has become clear that Indiana got a steal. Haliburton has emerged as one of the most promising young players in the league, averaging 20.2 points, 10.2 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game. He is a dynamic playmaker who makes everyone around him better.
The Kings' Perspective
From the Kings' perspective, the trade was also a success. While they gave up a talented player in Haliburton, they received a package that included a proven All-Star in Sabonis. Sabonis is a double-double machine who has averaged 19.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per game since joining Sacramento.
In addition to Sabonis, the Kings also received two solid role players in Lamb and Holiday. Lamb is a capable scorer, while Holiday is a versatile defender. The 2023 second-round pick gives Sacramento a chance to add another young player to their roster.
